Description (anglais) : On the night of June 2, 1588, the bell that traditionnaly announce the meeting of the Consell de Cent or Council of Hundred, the city's governing assembly, announced something different. Earlier that same day it had been rumored that royal officers had received orders to transfer a prisoner from Catalan to royal jurisdiction. Catalan authorities in the city warned that such action would openly violate the principality's privileges. After a dozen strokes, the streets around the city hall swarmed with people. Several hours of tense negotiations between Catalan and royal officers ensued.
