Description (anglais) : In the recent years, the use of so-called wide frames to produce stockings threatened the framework knitters' trade because they required less training and could be used by women and apprentices. By 1811, a lot of manufacturers recently entered in the industry did not hesitate to lower wages, which created a downward pressure upon piece rates. Discontent began to emerged across Nottinghamshire. In early 1811 in Arnold, framework knitters `broke into workshops and removed the jack-wires from frames making cut-ups'.
