Description (anglais) : Attempt by rural habitants to force a reduction in the price of an essential commodity, salt. Indeed, in the fall of 1704 due to the failure of the ship La Seine, salt was in short supply in New France. After the decision of the intendant to set price for salt in the Quebec district, habitants from the vicinity around Montreal gathered and marched on the town to reduced the price of salt.
