Michaël GRAS (2009 – 2012) Contribution of inshore spawning sites to the recruitment of English Channel cuttllefish stock : relationship between the success of pre-recruit stages and resource abundance

Martin UMBERTINI (2009 – 2012) Re-suspended organic matter in oyster farming ecosystems of Lower Normandy.

 Research themes :

Keywords : Cephalopods, trophic relationships, juvenile, recruitment, population dynamics, habitats.

After having studied spatio-temporal trends in abundance in squid and cuttlefish stocks, population models were developed to describe cohort exploitation.

Statolith readings were used to compare growth parameters and age-at-recruitment.

Now ongoing studies concern pre-recruit stages and the part played by Cephalopods resourcesin the ecosystem.

The CRESH project objective is to better understand natural habitat of spawning and egg laying and of early stages.

These studies contribute to the Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries via the analysis of trophic interactions and via the analysis of interactions between metiers and fishing fleets. .
