New Developments in Social Choice and Welfare Theories
University of Caen, June 10, 11, 12, 2009
In June 2009, the ADRES (Association pour le Développement de la Recherche en Economie et Statistiques) will organize its main conference in Caen. The conference will be devoted to "New developments in Social Choice and Welfare Theories". The event will provide an opportunity to reflect on over fifty years of research in social choice and welfare theories and identify the most promising areas for future research. In particular, it will draw upon the expertise of researchers who have contributed to the development and success of the international scientific journal "Social Choice and Welfare", which will celebrate the 25th anniversary of its creation in May 1984. As most of you already know, the conference will also be a tribute to Maurice Salles, one of the founding members of the journal and the society for Social Choice and Welfare, who will retire in August 2009.
Amartya Sen, Nobel Prize, Harvard University
John Weymark, Vanderbilt University
